A Broken World

I’m reminded today for what feels like the millionth time this year of the brokenness in our world. I don’t understand it, though I know we’ve been broken from the very beginning. My heart is so incredibly hurt by what I see on the news, how others treat one another and the death and destruction around us. This pain must only be a tiny, minute fraction of what our Father in Heaven feels when He sees the brokenness. This wasn’t his plan, he wanted joy and happiness and a relationship with his creation.

Just like Eve had the choice to pick up the fruit, the man last night in Las Vegas had a choice to pick up that gun. We are a broken people and so in need of Jesus Christ. We need grace so badly. That man needed Jesus. He needed someone to tell him there was a Savior who died for him, to restore his brokenness, to make Him whole. What this tragedy tells me more than anything is that when we see brokenness, we need to point more people to Jesus. We need to point more people to hope. We need to point more people to a God who desperately wants them to feel whole and deeply loved. We need to let our light shine even brighter to the world around us. We especially need to show our children that they can be a light as well. That they can be whole in Christ and live a life honoring to Him. Then maybe they can go out and help heal the brokenness through Jesus, to make the world be a little less broken.

Today, pray for Las Vegas. Pray for our country. Pray for our world. Pray that Jesus would return and the brokenness would be no more.

Thanks for letting me share,
