Easter Recap & EGGciting Easter Challenge
Well, here we are KidMin Leaders…we made it through Easter! Are we exhausted? Absolutely. Are we tired of looking at plastic Easter eggs? You know it. Are we still praising God for the goodness of the weekend? You bet we are! Last week was crazy town, but now that I’m on the other side, I’m tired, but grateful for an incredible weekend focused on glorifying our risen Savior.
My church hosted a great community egg hunt Saturday and I had to share the “EGGciting Easter Challenge” we came up with based on Children’s Ministry Deals free “Resurrection Egg Coloring Page”. We wanted a way to keep the focus on Christ, but in a fun and interactive way. We decided to use the coloring sheet eggs, cut and hole punch them and allow children to get one for completing an activity at game stations. They received a binder ring at the start and were told to go play all the games to receive a prize (candy cross bracelet).
The challenge we had was keeping the game stations “loosely” based on the Resurrection Egg. We tried to keep them very simple, for all ages. I say game, but it was more of an “activity”. We planned 11 game/activities that could be played in any order. The 12th station was actually a brief skit that laid out clearly what Jesus did on the cross. I’ve included all our games names, instructions and skit script at the bottom of this post.
After our egg hunt ended, as people were leaving we passed out “gift bags”. Each gift bag had the Gospel of John, a note about the book from our pastor, a summer event card, a “He is Risen” egg for kids, free ice cream coupons and personal note from a person at our church thanking them for attending the egg hunt.
I wish I had taken more pictures of our games and bags, but the day was busy and I was running around making sure everything was running smoothly. I’m so grateful my team and all our volunteers stepped up to the challenge of making this event happen. They were amazing!
I hope your weekend and events went well! Let me know if you did something super cool, share it in the comments!
